Here’s a roundup of Olympic tidbits from around the Web.

First, O.C. athletes:

  • Hard to tell if he’s joking, but Kobe Bryant says he will entertain offers to play in Italy if he gets $50 million.
  • Dara Torres’ former teammate Nancy Hogshead says she “would have never in a million years picked her to be the one that lasted all these years.” But Dara “has done a service to all of sports” by applying advances in techniques, recovery and nutrition to herself.
  • F-word.org says Dara is “amazing” but should not be held up as the “physical ideal” for any woman.
  • Misty May-Treanor admits sex appeal is part of the draw of beach volleyball.
  • Badminton player Bob Malaythong talks to Chicago Sun-Times about how as a poor child in Laos, he used to roll up a handful of rice into a ball, sprinkle it with salt, and call it a day’s meal.
  • Meanwhile, Immigration Daily names badminton players Malaythong and Howard Bach as their Immigrants of the Week.
  • Federation of Gay Games announces its support of 11 publicly lesbian, gay or bisexual Olympians in Beijing, including softball player Lauren Lappin.
