Michael Phelps controversial victory against Serbia and Orange County’s Milorad Cavic in the 2008 Olympic Games 100-meter butterfly final gave Phelps his seventh gold medal of the Beijing Games. By matching Mark Spitz’s performance at the 1972 Olympics in Munich, Phelps triggered a $1-million bonus in his contract with Speedo. Related: O.C. With seven medals, Orange County athletes would have been tied with the Dutch for 13th among the nations of the world at midday Saturday. All our medals - two gold, three silver and two bronze - have come in swimming. Aaron Peirsol (100 backstroke) and Jason Lezak (4×100 freestyle relay) have the golds. Peirsol (200 backstroke), Milorad Cavic (100 butterfly) and Dara Torres (4×100 freestyle relay) have the silver. Lezak (100 freestyle) and Larsen Jensen (400 freestyle) have the bronze.
